"Cloistered in Simplicity"
Clergy and ministers in the Community of Christ the Sower, as well as most other independent Old Catholic and Anglican churches and orders, are non-stipendiary. This means that clergy and ministers are usually work regular jobs and pursue their ministries on their own time and with their own financial resources. Ministries within the Community can vary greatly. In all cases they are usually non-paid and offer their services representing the Community on a volunteer basis, frequently paying for ministry related expenses on their own such as rent and/or utilities of a church building, church furnishings and supplies, web sites, outreach, and literature to distribute. All members, including ministers, work to support themselves through their formation and profession. The Reverend Chris Enda-Luke, rector of the Community of Christ the Sower and priest of Shepherd of the Woods Church, is originally from San Diego and has resided in Siskiyou County for the past 24 years.
She completed her M.Div. in 1998, was ordained to the priesthood shortly thereafter, and opened the doors of the church to public worship at the Chapel of St. Mary Magdalene. In 2007, she accepted the appointment of Prior with the newly formed Community of Christ the Sower. In 2009 she was asked to serve as Rector [similar to Abbess] for the Community. Her function is to minister to the Order, offer spiritual direction to members, oversee the formation of postulants and novices, and to handle the business and administrative details of the Community. She has worked in the counseling field since 1978.
Sister Gabrielle Benedicta, CCS, resides in San Mateo County, California. She is active in ministry in her local community and is a Prioress in the Community.
Sister Joy AnnaMaria, CCS, is a fully professed member of the Community and is directress of formations. She resides in Monterey County, California.
