Text Box: We are pleased to announce that the Community of Christ the Sower has been received by the Anglican Church of Kenya, in the Diocese of Katakwa.
Katakwa is the smallest, and probably the poorest diocese in Kenya. It is very rural, and the people struggle with poverty, HIV/AIDS, female genital mutilation in Text Box: the outlying areas, hunger and the diseases associated with that condition, refugees from Uganda and the Sudan, and a host of other problems.
We are humbled and grateful that in a place where so many struggle simply to survive, these Spirit-filled Christians have taken it upon themselves to share Text Box: with us the Gospel of Christ and provide us an ecclesial home.
The motto of the diocese, ‘Glory to God,’ resonates deeply within the history and spirituality of Little Gidding: We feel quite at home in the company of such earthy, pastoral and committed people as these, and we do indeed give glory to God for the gift of such brothers Text Box: The Right Reverend Gregory Francisco, Ph.D., Assisting Bishop for the Diocese of Katakwa and Vicar General of Ecumenical and Missionary relations, will become our official Visitor on Saint Ferrar’s day, December 04 of this Text Box: year.
Bishop Francisco is a welcome addition amongst our membership, and we look forward to celebrating with joy and gladness his installation as our Episcopal Visitor.
May God’s grace Text Box: We would like to announce that we have been appointed an Episcopal Visitor.
Because we are an extended family, we thought it good to have designated Episcopal oversight for the sake of accountability.
Text Box: Kensley serves as Vicar of Shepherd of the Woods Church in Yreka, California and will be on sabbatical while attending school.
Seeing the need for distinctly Christian values and Text Box: We’re pleased to announce that one of our number, The Reverend Christien Kensley, CCS, has recently begun studies at Cooley School of Law in Lansing Michigan.
Reverend Text Box: presence in the legal profession at large, and desirous of continuing to serve in rural ministry, Reverend Kensley hopes to return to her parish and serve the needs of families and the local Native American population.
