Text Box: We have been contacted by another community inspired by the Little Gidding charism, and were even asked to provide an informational article about ourselves for their newsletter. The Community is called ‘The Pilsdon Community,’ and they have a second foundation called ‘Pilsdon at Malling.’ As you may have Text Box: guessed from the name, both of these communities are located in rural England. Pilsdon is comprised of a grand old manor house, in which members live and into which they receive guests. Pilsdon at Malling is a truly communal and truly Christian arrangement, wherein members tend Text Box: the farm, animals and grounds, and otherwise share in the life of a Little Gidding style religious community. It’s a blessing and a gift of grace to share our Little Gidding heritage in this way. We all of us together give witness to the religious genius of St. Nicholas and the enduring nature of our mission in the body of Christ. Text Box: a time of rejoicing. However in Chapter 49 St. Benedict speaks of joyful vigilance, the joy of spiritual desire that fills us during this season of preparation. Our Holy Rule calls us to a service of reconciliation prior Text Box: to the beginning of Lent, and reconciliation is exactly the anticipated outcome: First we seek reconciliation with each other and with ourselves, and then in joy we are reconciled with our Risen Lord. We don't usually think of rejoicing in Lent; we think of penance and we think of depravation, we think of opportunities missed and regret roads not taken, but most of us rarely, ever think of Lent as Text Box: either from the publisher directly, or via a link on our website.
